The Trust serves the counties of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. The area is made up of:

  • 5.38 million people (census 2001)
  • 7,500 square miles
  • 14 Primary Care Trusts
  • 17 Acute Trusts
  • 1 Health Authority

In 2007/8 the ambulance services in the six counties covered undertook:

  • 543,076 emergency calls
  • More than 1.4 million non emergency patient journeys

Our resources include:

  • 273 frontline ambulances
  • 215 marked response cars
  • 237 non emergency ambulances
  • 25 major incident vehicles and decontamination equipment, plus mobile control rooms.
  • 110 ambulance stations and response posts
  • 3 Health and Emergency Operations Centres (control rooms)

We employ 3,800 people as of March 2008.
