Extremely lucky escape following Marks Tey RTC
Two people have been taken to hospital this afternoon following a serious RTC on the Ipswich-bound A12 close to Marks Tey.
The ambulance service was called just after 4.15pm and a crew, rapid response vehicle, clinical manager John Nicholls and a BASICS doctor were dispatched, along with the air ambulance.
John said: "It appears the car had come off the road close to the on-slip with the A12 and was in collision with a tree. One man in his 20s suffered head, neck and pelvic injuries and was flown to Colchester General Hospital for further care.
"The female passenger suffered minor injuries and following care on the scene, was taken to Colchester General by land vehicle.
"From an operational point of view, it was a fairly straightforward job as the pair were not trapped. Bearing in mind the extent of damage to the car, they are extremely lucky not to have been more seriously injured."
