Volunteers
Thousands of people throughout the East of England undertake voluntary work for the ambulance service. Find out how to join them here.
Become a community first responder (CFR):
Anyone who lives or works in the East of England can get involved with CFR schemes, whether it’s to be a responder, or to help with other vital tasks such as fund-raising, support or administration.
Volunteers do not need previous first aid experience to join their local group, as full training will be provided.
If you would like to set up a CFR scheme in your community, or join an existing scheme, contact us at responderadmin@eastamb.nhs.uk or telephone 01284 731802.
Find out about the work of CFRs here.
Become an ambulance car service (ACS) driver:
Our ACS drivers play a vital role in our non emergency services operation. To volunteer, you will need to apply and meet certain requirements, such as passing an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check, holding a good driving record and having a safe and reliable vehicle.
Volunteers are not paid for their time but do receive compensation for their driving expenses on a per-mile basis.
To find out more, contact the locality office nearest you and ask to speak with someone about the service:
